Agree to Disagree Stamp by Mirz123 Agree to Disagree Stamp by Mirz123
The most important trip you may take in life is meeting people halfway. ~Henry Boye

By request, a stamp version of my "Agree to Disagree" emote.

*** :aww: As with most of my smileys, you may use this on and off dA, without my permission. The only thing I ask is that you keep the file name in tact and don't remove any credit information. If you do use it for something, it would be nice if you could comment and let me know. It encourages me to make more smileys if I know people are using/enjoying them. ***

I agree with this stamp. Most of the time people are going to have different opinions on certain subjects, but that doesn`t make the person wrong. (If that was the case, everyone would be wrong). Plus, there are times when it`s better to keep your opinion to yourself.

I deeply respect people who reply to my views calmly, expressing their opinion on the matter, keeping the disagreement just a friendly talk or debate with no shoving-down-the-throat. I can't stand arguing >< I wish everyone could just agree to disagree. :D

My dad told me that a while back when I yelled at him about being homophobic..
I have no problem with gays and I think it's even cute at times.. but for some reason my family feels the need to share that they don't like gays.. and he told me that..
hm? I have no problem with your opinion on it, just keep it to your self, alright? He still doesn't get it. hm.

I try not to be combatative, but disagreement is inevitable.
Two plus two may equal four or five. It may not ever equal anything at all if you feel lazy. However, it does not equal seventy-five, ever. There is a certain range of answers, be they mathematical or human in nature, that are acceptable. And then there are answers that must be corrected.

 I don't mind disagreements. I just don't like when it gets disrespectful. True, sometimes someone else is holding onto an idea that is not correct, but even if we disagree, that doesn't give one a right to be nasty or mean.

Thanks for sharing your POV.

Aww, so true! I wish that some people would take the time to understand each other. It's just a little tolerance and respect to make it all better. :'>

My, this is sooooooooo true! :ohnoes:
We may come to disagree sometimes, and it is normal in my opinion... but some touchy people seem to take this as a personal offence. Why can't we just accept each other's opinion without taking contrast to another level? Where's the tolerance gone? :|

I don't know. Nowadays people demand tolerance for their own beliefs but don't want to give it to others. :(

I have this kinda.. love-hate relationship with a friend of mine online. We argue all the time, and NEVER agree on things. We always think the opposite of what the other one thinks, and people who don't know us tries to stop us while those who know us just shrugs and finds it kinda funny. Even if we disagree with each other all the time, we agree that each other has different opinions. And thus we continue our endless fight about who's right.
More like rivals, but still friends. Haha. :B

 Yes. I think that is the true spirit of this stamp. We can be friends and hold opposing opinions (be rivals even) and yet still understand and respect each other.

Some time during my studies, I ended up talking about books with someone in my class. She stated how she'd finished the Twilight series and asked me if I had read any of the books, so I responded that I'm not very fond of that series myself... and blam.

She told me how she'd taken a degree in literature and that if I couldn't see how great the series is, which she clearly did because of her degree, then I had to be outright dumb. I think my jaw almost dropped open, as this came from a grown woman. I tried to tell her "Well, we can just agree to disagree", but she just gave me a cold shoulder and persisted in her assumption that I had be intellectually challenged to not see the greatness of the books.

A teenager - okay, I could understand, but someone who's clearly a "grown-up" and even finished a degree? ... I just didn't say more and left it at that.

:O Amazes me even today...

I have often felt that the craze surrounding the Twilight series was more cultish than normal fandom. There's such a level of obsession around them that I don't feel is healthy. Mind you, I had my fangirl period when I was younger, where I lived/ate/breathed a certain book or movie series. But this goes beyond that. What gets me the most is these grown women who find themselves obsessing over these young men in the book. A bit creepy. I even read an article that it's interfering with some people's marriages. That's just wrong.

That's just a wild story, though. I have heard MANY literary professional who have totally ripped on those books. Not just for the storyline, but not being very technically well-written.

It's pretty normal to be very caught up in something, but... there should be limits. I'm fine with people obsessing over it, or other things, as long as they don't take it out on people who happen not to like it all that much. I didn't even say anything -bad- about it, so why such rage was unleashed on me... I've no idea. A bit worrying, actually.

Yeah, exactly.. It's bad when they use their education as an excuse for their obsession, when it should give them somewhat of a critical eye. Doesn't mean they shouldn't like it, but at least see that it's possibly not a new 'fantastic work to be added and compared to the greatest works of history'.

I wish there was more tolerance for divergent thinking in today's world... Outside of Black-&-Whiteness, beyond yes-&-no, right-&-wrong, and true vs. false. I'm glad to find this kind of stamp!
