This is my entry for the current Emoticon Opus Contest. Theme: Birthdays [link]

Yeah, this is a boring entry, but I wanted something that could be used more generally around the web. Also wanted to show off one of the best parts of birthdays...presents!

Please don't tell me the bounce sucks or suggest I should do some movement of the face. BTDT lots of times. I suck at bounces. I've tried having the eyes move and it simply looks awful. This just proves how inept I am at emoticon-ing, k? That said, I have never minded front-facing bounces. This isn't gonna win anyway, so I'm okay with it.

The face movement looks nice, but I might suggest holding the expression at the peak for one more frame? It might not help at all...but I feel like it should stay up just a moment longer. :D Otherwise, good for you for trying to move the face in a bounce!

Not differently, really. I have 2 styles of shading. My regular and my shiny. My shine shading is actually the same as my regular, with just some brigher accenting on the lower right. I only use shiny on pieces that the extra light will not distract from the piece.
