*** A very unexpected DD. Thank you ^mintyy for the feature and =TimberClipse, ~Devil-man-josh (and the many others I'm not aware of) for suggesting it. ***

This is my entry for :iconsparklydest: =SparklyDest's February EMTC Contest ---> [link] . The theme is "sparkles." <edit>It ended up winning the contest.</edit>

This deviation was a bit of a surprise for me. I had a different, much simpler, idea I was going to do. Then on another forum that I frequent, a woman had requested a smiley girl flying on a magic carpet. I thought that would be a neat thing to try, however, another artist beat me to the request. Still, I wanted to pixel it out, with emotes. The idea of incorporating it into the contest then hit me.

*Ravenswd gets credit again for helping me get the carpet movement down. Originally I was going to have the sparkles simply be the stars twinkling in the background. That proved much more difficult to choreograph than I thought and both of us did a ton of work that ended up on the cutting room floor (so to speak). In the beginning, I had toyed with the idea of doing a trail of sparkle "exhaust", but nixed it because it sounded too hard to pull off. Well, as you can see, I ended up going that route. Had to do it all the sparkles by hand, frame-by-frame, but ultimately, it was easier than doing the stars. Plus, I think it looks better this way. I should note that *Ravenswd did end up using the twinkling idea on this deviation ---> [link]

My "persnickity" notes: There's a tiny bit of bounciness to the emotes. With such a small carpet/area, it was impossible to get it perfectly smooth (though I don't think riding on a carpet would be perfectly smooth). Also, I did toy with adding a more detailed background, but felt it would detract from the overall piece.

I did do a smiley girl on a carpet too, because I wanted to see if I could pull that off.
