*** Edit 2: Went and fixed a few more things bugging me, including a frame that I didn't realize disappeared. Added another 9 frames and 2 more seconds to the animation. ***
It's been quite a while since I've done a longer animation, and since I know many of my Watchers enjoy them, I've been itching to do another. The Donkey Kong
doesn't count, because that was *Ravenswd
This is an entry for the #DevNews
I love devNews, but I didn't think I'd be able to enter because I didn't have clue what to do, plus I had a couple other contests on my plate. But, about a week ago I got some inspiration and totally wanted to see if I could pull it off. Of course, I told myself it would just be a small animation. Yeah, right. Over 400 frames and 45 seconds long. Pffff.
I think it's pretty self-explanatory, but for the sake of those who might be new to the site, the deviation depicts the site's mascot, Fella, hosting a devNews-cast. I tried to incorporate different aspects of devNews and the kinds of things would be featured in a News articles. Of course, this is only a small sampling of what devNews covers. I had more ideas, but if I'd made this any longer, I think I would have fainted.
1 - A deviant reporting from a devMeet
2 - Fella is giving a recap of the recent Daily Deviations
3 - A deviant is being made a senior member.
4 - Fella is passing on some information from the Community Relations team
5 - A herd of llamas. Need I say more?
6 - A deviant is being interviewed.
Gosh, I tried so hard to get all the little details right. I went back and tweaked this so many times. I'm sure there are still a few minor issues which I may come back to, but for now, I'm pretty happy with it.
Believe it or not, the hardest thing to pixel on this was the tiny version of the Community Relations logo. Oy!
This is not
a collab with *Ravenswd
, but he did help me with some minor tweaks (such as I messed up a small part of the animation and was perplexed how to fix it and he had the answer). Plus, he helped in the conversion process since Animation Shop couldn't handle it, so I had to use Ulead for the final 5-6 renders. So, big thanks to him, as always.
This took 20+ hours over the course of a week and a half. I basically did all of the "segment" animations separately and then pieced everything together, doing the Fella parts last. Programs used: Paint Shop Pro, Animation Shop, and Ulead Gif Animator.
Oh, and for the record, I hate doing talking emotes. Have hated doing them for a long time. Just proof certain that I am a glutton for punishment when it comes to my art.
