Back in the day, when I was a kid, before there was widespread cable t.v. and a gazillion channels, us kid were relegated to watching old re-runs in the afternoons and cartoons were mostly shown on Saturdays. It was an amazing treat for there to be a cartoon on prime-time...and it was usually a Charlie Brown special. One of the best was "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." Linus, the one with the blanket, would wait every year in the pumkin patch for the Great Pumpkin (a character akin to the Easter Bunny and Santa Clause) to appear. Of course, he never did, but Linus never gave up hope.
Anyhow, this is what I thought of when the theme to the contest was announced. I also went ahead and did it because I heard of the free Halloween avi contest being held and felt this could work for both. Of course, I love any opportunity to emotize my favorite characters.

Sally: I was robbed! I spent the whole night waiting for the Great Pumpkin, when I could've been out for tricks-or-treats! Halloween is over and I missed it! You blockhead! You kept me up all night waiting for the Great Pumpkin, and all that came was a beagle! I didn't get a chance to go out for tricks-or-treats! And it was all your fault! I'll sue! What a fool I was! I could've had candy, apples, and gum; and cookies and money and all sorts of things! But no, I had to listen to you; you blockhead. What a fool I was. Trick-or-treats come only once a year, and I miss it by sitting in a pumpkin patch with a blockhead. YOU OWE ME RESTITUTION!!!!!
There's also Sally's rant in "It's the Easter Beagle":
Sally (to Linus): You've done it again, haven't you? I've been sitting here since dawn waiting for the Easter Beagle! Where is he?! I don't why I always listen to you; I never learn! You said the Easter Beagle was coming! Well, where is he? I'm the laughing stock of the neighborhood! You made a fool of me! Why do I always listen to you? "Trust me," you said. "Trust me, trust me." Now I've been burned again. Never trust a man with a blanket! GET ME MY LAWYER, I'VE BEEN HUMILIATED!!!
The funny thing, there was an "Easter Beagle".
I love this episode. X3
Thiz is adorable. I watched the movie this past Halloween and just marveled at the difference between cartoon writing then and now. I can’t help but smile when looking at the Snoopy you made here. Great job!
Yes, I am always amazed at the different writing and content between now and then. But I love the Charlie Brown specials. They are classics.
Beautifully captured Peanuts!
I adore your avi.
