Not My Problem Stamp by Mirz123 Not My Problem Stamp by Mirz123
A few days ago, Howard Tayler (of Schlock Mercenary fame) tweeted about the Polish phrase for "not my problem." It's "nie moj cyrk, nie moje malpy" which, when translated, means "not my circus, not my monkey." I thought this was so funny--and apparently a lot of other people did as it got re-tweeted over 3000 times--that I had to make a stamp for it.

Had fun doing this. The circus tent is a small version of one I did for my amusement park emote a few years back. The monkey is a modified version of Jamocha. Thought the big eyes would work better.

No, I love them. I so appreciate when my fans comments. Even if I can't write a full reply to each, I read them all and they make me very happy.

Ever since I saw this stamp, this phrase has stayed in my brain like an earworm tune or a bullet, and it's been just as hopeless to get it out.

Heck with it.  Might as well fave the sucker and be done with it.  ;P

It's one of my all-time favorite phrases. I think it's just so silly and funny, but so to the point and true. I love it.

Oh gawd, :+fav: from the first sight :love:

The phrase actually got, um, a little deeper meaning... It's closer to "not my mess to deal with". You know, it's about an idea of monkeys in the circus getting loose from the cages and unleashing Hell on everything around... To which a passerby replies "Not my circus, not my monkeys". This is just over my head, I want no part of it . Leave it to the owner to deal with it and clean up the mess, it's his responsibility ^^;
It's such a Polish saying :lol: We use it each time we've got to deal with some official paperwork, public services, legal matters or anything... They all look like a circus with monkeys let loose :XD: You just go there and do whatever you're told, and whether it makes any sense at all... "Nie mój cyrk, nie moje małpy" ^^;

ha-ha. Thanks for sharing that. Actually, that is the context I use it in most of the time. At least me and my friends do (now that I introduced them to it).

I am Polish-American, so it tickles me on that level to know this, as well. I always wanted to learn to speak Polish but never did. Just know a few "bad words" in it. LOL!

Thanks for the lovely comment. <333

LOL, why did I see that coming? :XD: Tthey say that if you know the swearwords, you know proper Polish. You can say everything that really matters in Polish conversations anyway :laughing:
I can't blame you :) Between our absurdly complex grammar, mind- breaking amount of exceptions, phonetics that gets your tongue tied up like a rope, vocabulary that gets half of content lost in translation  (whether it's Polish => other language or vice versa), and the fact it's used only in one country in the world, it's not exactly the most learner- friendly language ^^; There's only that much motivation you can get from the curiousity in your roots. I think that if I had to learn nouns and adjectives in seven cases, I'd give up too :D
