Why do I do this to myself?
I was working on the web layout for my fiction site and wanted a retro font for the navigation buttons. Since I incorporated a lot of pixel-art into the design, I felt that a retro bitmap font would work best. However, I simply could not find one in the old movie lettering style I wanted. After getting quite frustrated, I did what I usually do...set about making my own. Of course, I couldn't settle for just making a quick, straight character set, so I ended up making a 5 version full font family.
You can see this font used in the weblayout here on my Alt account ---> [link]
This font contains 5 different fonts--the main font and 4 variations. I did pixel versions of the 2 most popular noir font styles: the blocky "movie" version and the thin, curved version. There is also a small version which I created specifically for emoti-art and tiny pixel-art.
Note that I know some of the letters are not styled in their classic form, namely the capital A. However, I had to make modifications of the type in order for it to work in pixel form. I'm actually proud of the tweaks as it gives the font my unique flair.
Also, note that some of the "rounded" tall caps do have a bit of a blockiness. That was unavoidable given the nature of pixel fonts. However, a little manual anti-aliasing cleans them up very nicely.

This font is free-use. You don't have to link back to this page if you use it, but it would be polite if you did. Also, I love to see how people use my resources and I'll add the deviation to my special folder. You may also re-distribute the font as long as you don't make money and all the files and read-me are included.
This is a full font set, featuring 5 fonts in the same family. All include basic symbols/punctuation. The zip file includes the fonts, a readme file, plus a copy of the graphic above so you can see the full set. When using a graphics program, this font works best at 6pts (8px). This font is free use for personal and commercial projects. Commercial use does have some limitations. Please see [link] (this page) for terms and more details.
** These fonts are tested by me prior to release. However, if you find a problem when using, please let me know as I'll be happy to fix them and re-release. ***
