This is my entry for the "Room for the Holidays" contest. The challenge was to take a stock room and decorate it for the holidays. Of course, me being an emoticonist, I had to create a pixel version of one of the rooms. First I had to shrink down and trace the stock to get my line-art. Then, because scale is a bit different for emotes, I tweaked the room and removed a couple of elements that didn't work. Then I colored and added the decoration. Because of the small area, I had to be creative with my minimal decorations. I also chose to use emotes as decorations. This is actually a New Year's Eve party and the hosting couple have invited a few of their friends over to celebrate with them.
Since I used an apartment stock photo, I went with a neutral color scheme. This is very reminiscent of the apartment that *Ravenswd and I lived in when we were first married. We were pretty poor back then and did the best with what we had for decorations. A lot of inexpensive lights hung everywhere, a tree, plus some creative decorations like wrapping pictures on the walls to look like presents. Also, in the background, by the tree, there is a Christmas picture of a nutcracker (though I realize it looks more like Santa).
Oh, and due to the angle of the stock, some of the proportions are off on this. I know this, but this was the best I could do using emotes without changing the room dramatically (which I didn't want to do since I wanted to keep as close to the stock as I could).
This contest has great prizes and there's NO entries in this category! C'mon, everyone--get creative and enter!

I just had to tell you...
I like the idea of wrapping the pictures on the walls, I might give it a go this year.
