This WAS my Round 2 entry for the Multi-Round Drop-Out Emoticon Contest (i.e. Tournament) hosted by ~DryBones44. [link] However, i confused the theme. I thought it was regular "Community" and it was more specifically "Emoticon Community". So, my general rainbow version is now the official the entry. You can see it below.

I tell you, when I heard the theme, I had absolutely no idea what I was going to do. I thought to do a group all holding hands and such, but that seems a little done-already. Then I thought of doing something with emotes around a globe, which was better, but really didn't convey what I picture as online communities. Then I thought, instead of a regular globe, how about a symbolic internet globe, which you see on a lot of desktop icons.
Originally, I was going to do a generic globe with colored emotes. But then it occurred to me it would be cool if there was a globe in dA colors, and even better if I could somehow incorporate the logo into it. Particularly with dA's 11th birthday coming up. So, after a bit of wrangling, this is what I came up with.
I decided to go with yellow emotes all around as it tied in much nicer with the dA color scheme than a rainbow. I also chose to forego the forward facing smile expression and instead thought it would be more appropriate if the emotes were focusing inwards, hence focusing on their community.
Since I wanted to make a version of this for general use, too, I did go ahead and make my original version, which you can find in my Scraps.

Because this piece incorporates the dA logo, it is NOT available for commercial usage in any fashion.
Yeah. Actually, I tried to vary them a bit because it did remind me of a basketball. But, with such a small circle, it was unavoidable to some degree. The blue one looks less so.
Just wanted to let you know that you were featured in the latest deviantART BirthdAy Countdown!
Have a great day!
