A new series that will feature art selected by me. There will be a wide range of themes and genres covered. In addition, there will be periodic interviews and artist spotlights. This article will be also be the home of my upcoming "Awesome dA Artist" feature, which is a re-birth/re-imagining of my "Awesome Emoticonist" award.
On my profile page, I feature a new deviation every day (or two or three). The piece is usually something that caught my eye. Could be an amazing digital painting, a fun stamp, a quick photograph that made me smile, perhaps a piece for a weekly theme, whatever. However, it moved me enough to share it with my visitors. Below is a list of the artists which I featured during January 2011. I am showcasing different pieces from their gallery in the hope of showing them a bit more love. If you would like to see the original piece I featured of each of these artists, please visit this folder.

A Geek PrimerGeek (noun):
1. A mammal that is found throughout the globe, often confused with a closely related species (see NERDS).
Geeks are usually identified from the two most common features that the species is known for. The first of these features is having great skill, knowledge or interest in technology. The second is an interest or dedication to a subject that usually places them outside of the mainstream. The subject or subjects of the Geeks choice sometimes get carried to a level beyond average (see OBSESSION). In this series, I hope to introduce the community to some artists who have been around dA for a while, but are still relativity unknown. The interviews are meant to be short and sweet. I encourage you to check out the artist's full gallery and add them to your devWatch.
Could you introduce yourself and tell us a little about yourself and your dA life?
Hello, I am =pixiepot (obviously ) and I have been a member of deviantART for around three years now. I have a blog and am currently writing a novel.
What would you say your main artform is? Secondary?
I'd say that as of late, my literature has pushed that little further and become my main art form where my secondary art form is definitely digital art (though I don't upload much of it onto deviantART).
When did you start pursuing your art? What prompted you to?
I've always love to draw and write, ever since I can remember. I think my biggest push has been the realisation that it won't be long until I have to put the plans for my career that I've had since I was about seven into action and that I have to work if I want a good career, it won't just fall from the sky.
What is your favorite piece in your gallery at the moment?
PrologueWilliam Ray lay in bed, still wide awake and staring at the ceiling, he began to think about his most recent recurring dream. It had to mean something, didn't it? His father once told him that everything means something, even the most minor of things. William was now debating whether or not his father had spoken the words of a truthful man or not.
There was a part of him that wanted to sleep to revisit the dream, yet the other part of him told him not to. The part that dismissed sleep told him to think instead and that maybe if he just thought, if he didn't sleep, the answer would come to him in time. As he thought, he grew even more tired;
In general, what is your favorite thing to create (i.e. fan-art, poetry, etc)?
To be honest, I just love to write and draw in general. Though I am keen to work on my novel-related artworks.
Time to spread the love. Who are 3 artists you feel could use more attention?
Hmm...just three? I could write a long list. ~kuuneho, `Endorell-Taelos and =Piirustus
Some of my picks from =pixiepot's gallery:
I have been doing some (dark) poetry on my `mirz-alt account. A recent piece I did had a line about a damsel having having tea with a dragon. So, with that, here are some pieces inspired by that theme:
