Still... and...

Journal Entry: Sun Jan 22, 2012, 5:55 PM

:meow: I'm feeling a little better. Not perfect.  I realize now the biggest source of my stress has been a huge 2-do list, some of which has been plaguing me for months.  I still have a lot to do, but getting a few key pieces off has helped a lot to get my spirits a bit higher.  I still am stressing though, so much I'm not sleeping well.  But, it's the old adage: "How do you eat an elephant?" -- "One bite at a time."  I have to keep picking at it and hope I get through it eventually.

:D  A good thing is I've cut my message center in half.  Hope to get through the rest over the next day or two.

:faint: In related news, we are readying our house from a visit from my daughter's BF from England.  He's coming next week and we're all very excited.  We're also going to take a bit of a road trip when he's here, to show him some of the US sights.  Wish us luck as we get things together.  Also, because of that, my internet time may be sporadic.  Just so you know.

:eager: I did a poll on this, but I am hosting an OC 6-word Story Project on my Alt account.  It has had a really great start. So check it out.  And if you have an OC, whether Lit, Emote, or just for fun, consider joining. And don't forget my contest--details below.

Your OC's Story in a 6-Word Story - ProjectThis is a project that is open to anyone who has an OC (Original Character) or FC (Fan Character).  It was inspired by a personal challenge where I pushed myself to tell my OC's story using a 6-word story.  I realized it would be a great exercise for authors, as well as a fun way to introduce your character to the great dA audience--and a fun and easy way for others to discover your character.
The project is very simple.  Create a 6-word story for your OC. It doesn't necessarily have to focus on their origin, it could be their motivation for everything they do in their life.  It could describe the one life-event that made them who they are.  It could just give the essence of your character. But the reader should learn something from the story and know your OC better because of it.
Also, you may give a little more detail in the artist's notes and links to the characters, if you like.  This is not a contest and you won't be

:heart: A reminder.  I post a new daily feature every day on my page.  While some of the artists are well-known, I do make an effort to feature under-appreciated artist.  Be sure to check them out if you get a chance.  A fave, or better yet a comment, on the pieces you like is always appreciated by the artists.

Two Pieces of News Worth mentioning/repeating:

:happybounce: A big shout-out!  Gomotes is hosting the Ultimate Emoticon Battle over at his website, Gomotes.  It would be awesome if you could check it out and vote.  You don't have to be a member or register either.  So, head on over and vote for your fave! www.gomotes.com/2012/01/ultima…

:squee: Momma--G is back!  Many of you know that aside from emotes, I also do smilies.  Well, Momma is one of my all-time faves and one of the reasons I got into emoting in the first place.  Her work is beautiful and so much different than what you normally see in smilies.  Not to mention, she's just a lovely person.  So, go and give her lots of love and weclome her back.  And if you don't watch her, you need to...NOW!

AND...forgot to add...

Krissi001 made me the most cute and lovely gift.  My Minnie, being a monkey.  Yay!

gift for Mirz123 by Krissi001

:ashamed: I feel stupid having posted that last journal, so got rid of it.  Thanks to all that commented and gave their support.

:work: Lots to do in the upcoming week--online and offline.  I'll try to get through my messages over the next several days.

:meow: Again mentioning, I have a Twitter.  I tweet mostly about my art, but it covers all of my art and sites and such, so if you want to get the scoop on the full Mirz (with a little personal stuff thrown in), follow me. twitter.com/#!/Mirz1234

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
:meow: I am going to shift (and I think this will be permanent) to a Sunday weekly journal .  I'm trying to avoid having too much dA stuff to attend to on Monday mornings since I really need to just focus on starting my IRL work-week.
:) I am hosting a contest on my Alt account.  It was a small contest at first, but we have been getting some nice prize donations, so it is turning out into a good prize package.  Draw Your OC with My OC, and emotes count.  We already have a few entries. For more info, check out this page. ---> mirz-alt.deviantart.com/journa…
Scandalous! Minnie dropped her bow on the ground! Bad monkey! Don't you know it's impolite to wear no clothes in public?
Sorry you've been feeling down, I find that a massive to do list can be stressful too. I'm trying to cut myself some slack and just do what I feel able to though.
I love your daily feature idea, it's so sweet. :love:
Good to hear you're feeling better. I'm kind in the same boat as you. I have just too much stuff to do and then feel so overwhelmed, it causes so much tension and stress, that I don't know what to do with it but to continue the long to-do list. It's really good you're doing better. You deserve to feel better. :cuddle:
I hope you all have on your road trip. Be sure to take lots of pictures and show us some of them. I've never gone cross-country myself but when I have gone on road trips, taking pictures seems to help pass those long stretches.
We'll miss you and hope you have lots of fun! :happybounce:
Short-list? As in, soon? Yay! :squee:
Haha, if you need to though, take your time. Nothing wrong with getting the things you need done really bad first off. I wouldn't want to feel as if I had made you feel like you needed to get that done before more important things. :blushes:
:cuddle: I know what you mean about getting through the list. I finally finished the cross stitch for the hubs (and, shocker, it was of a fish. :giggle: Almost all of my x-stitches have aquatics in them), so that is a huge relief. And I am even making some head way on yarn projects. :happybounce: It is nice to start to feel accomplished after feeling so overwhelmed.
:squee: And I am so excited about *Momma--G being back! :happybounce: I love what she does with smilies and I have really missed her.
Good luck with the visit and travelling! :heart:
Yes. I don't think we often realize how much those un-done bits weigh on our mind. And a few of my bits were actually pretty big. I am still stressing, but at least I can see progress, so I'm hopeful. I do want to have most of it done before our visitor comes, so we can enjoy that.
Momma is great. I am really happy to see her here.
