Twenty Twelve? + Thanks

Journal Entry: Mon Jan 2, 2012, 8:00 AM
Thank you to everyone who offered kind words and support.  I was kinda being vague about "breakdowns" because I didn't want anyone feeling overly sorry for me.  But we had a major appliance break down, and now our car.  Thankfully, Jim was able to fix the appliance for under what a repairman would have charged--though it tapped us out.  The car simply has to wait for a couple of months, which makes life difficult. *sigh*  I really am trying to stay upbeat, focusing on art and friends.  Everyone's encouragement has helped a lot.  I'm trying to look on the bright side, but there's not a lot right now.  Hopefully something good will come soon.

Until then, the weekend is ahead and that's always cause to smile.  I hope you all have a great Fri/Sat/Sun.

:stupidme: So...yesterday, we have another breakdown. This one is going to cost a couple THOUSAND dollars to fix.  Honestly, I am not even upset.  More numb.  Truly a case of "if you don't laugh, you'll cry."  Anyhow, I have gotten through the good bulk of my messages, but I am just so half-hearted about everything right now.  I'm just in this funk where I feel everything is going wrong and everyone hates me.  It may or may not be true, but it has me bummed.  I need to make several emote birthday gifts, but I feel no one really likes or appreciates them.  Ack.  I said I wouldn't be negative, so I'm not saying this to be emo or cause drama--and you don't even have to reply.  Just explaining why I am not actively commenting and such.  I am trying to stay positive, it's just so very hard.

:crying: The start of the new year was pretty stinky.  I won't say what, but we ended up having an unexpected break-down of something that will take several hundreds of dollars to fix--and we won't have the money for a couple of months. So, needless to say, that was a bummer and I was pretty depressed yesterday.

But....there were a couple of bright spots that did cheer me up.

:eager: I think I mentioned a while back that a couple of my relatives didn't know what to get me and Jim for Christmas, so they offered to get us some commissioned art.  One of the pieces came in yesterday--another work by the amazing *Elengwat.  I don't know how much my watchers here like to hear about Relativity, so if you want to read more about this piece, you can visit this journal. :wow: I also ended up winning my first Lit contest!  Okay, admittedly, there were only 3 entries, but it was still a big boost for me because I'm quite self-conscious about my writing.  Anyhow, "Paradise Lost" is a story about a young girl who makes bad choices and the consequences of them.  It's a strong piece, but if you are interested in it. you can read about it and find a link to the story here...

The winner of the 1st ever Limitless Fiction writing contest is :iconmirz-alt: with her story Paradise Lost ->  http://limitlessfiction.deviantart.com/gallery/34044578#/d4kl1n6 !!!!!!!!!
I chose this submission for 1st place because their was a great use of emotion behind it. The other stories did tie emotion into their stories. But the main character's love, fear, and shame really drew me in unlike the other stories, and the ending of Paradise Lost was far from what I expected to happen, in a good way of course.
So be sure to check out Paradise Lost in the link above.
Also, you should check out her profile, she has some really cool stuff, like this ->  http://relativitycomic.deviantart.com/
She also makes emotes, like this one ->  http://mirz-alt.deviantart.com/gallery/26865045#/d3275ho

:D With the new year, that means shifting back into dA stuff.  The hope is to get another article of #Emotizine up soon.  I will also be continuing my emoticon series, The Emoticon Corner.  Plus, I planned a couple more "Best of 2011" articles which I hope to get up soon.

:ashamed: I know I missed several people's birthdays.  Who had birthdays this past week or so?  Also, we celebrate my son's birthday on the 6th, and me and `Ravenswd will be married 18 years on the 8th.

=Phlum is hosting the Community Spirit  Be sure to check it out and add him to your devWatch.  Also, we'll be opening host request for Jan/Feb/Mar later this week, so stay tuned.

:nuu: 475+ messages.  Hope to get to them today and tomorrow.

With the New Year, I have to get back in line with my promised features.  Until then, just some random and not-so-random ones below.

 And, despite it all, remember this...

Oh! LOL! That's awesome. My hubby just tinkers with cars, but it's good since he can do little things without it costing too much. But this is a big, major thing. *sigh* Anyhow, thanks for sharing. Love you, sweetie.

Car problems also? I know you once said we are alike but that is rather silly, our car recently broke down also, and it's needed in about 10 days to drive us back 2000 odd miles  Just our luck

Hope all is well with you, or getting better
